Movie News : X-Men First Class sequel

02/08/2012 13:49

X-Men news announcement, Brian Singer has confirmed that the sequel to X-Men First Class will be titled "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and is being written at the moment and will begin filming shortly. He was also quoted as saying that they want to go 'all out' with this film.

The majority of the cast from the first one are set to return. They'll apparently be covering part of the plot from the comics and also adding some new events. When asked if this will help tie up with or link with the X-trilogy, Brian Singer offered this inconclusive tease:

“I think there’s a strong desire to broaden out the universe. I mean, the X-Men universe is every bit on its own as big as the Marvel universe and I think it’s time to reach out and explore it and perhaps even bring some connectivity between the films,as Marvel’s done so well. You may see some of that, I don’t know.”

I'm quite intrigued to see how this pans out, the potential for this is great.  The loose plot of the 'Days of Future Past' in the comics is that Kitty Pride has come back from an alternate future, where mutants are interred in concentration camps and Sentinels rule the United States. Kitty ends up aiding the present day X-Men to alter the situation in their continuity to prevent this occuring.  This could sit well alongside the existing movies.  When adapted slightly, I can see Kitty (or someone else) coming back from a future continuity (i.e. that of the X-Men trilogy movies) to just after the events of First Class to advise them to avoid events which cause the 'mutant cure' to occur.

There have also been teases and mentions of an X-Men 4 and 5, which could well end up linked to this too. Also, if there's a Deadpool movie upcoming (as constantly rumoured), this time-travel arc could well lead to an appearance of Cable too!

So, if time travel and possibly two movie X-universes running in parallel happen with future films, what characters would people like to see appear and why? Bishop? Cable? Voice your thoughts in our feedback page https://geeknewsweek.webnode.com/discuss/
